Our Blog - "Christine's Corner"

I'm Christine Cook, President of Sleep Experts. As a wife and mother of two, I am most proud of our company's commitment to serving D/FW families in need through our Rest Assured mattress donation program. Through this blog I hope to share news and stories that will inspire others to join us in supporting the many nonprofit organizations in our community that serve families and children in crisis.

And from time to time, I'll also share sleep tips, advice on finding the right mattress, or other fun news and information.  Thanks for reading, and we hope you "Love Your Mattress"!

Let's Help Open the Doors at "My Friend's House"

I was so moved after visiting My Friend’s House in Collin County. They are trying desperately to open this much needed emergency shelter for children ages newborn to nine but have had several major setbacks. The state of our economy has left My Friend's House $395,000 short of funds for completion. Crucial state contract procurement, licensing and inspections are due in May, 2009. If the deadline is missed, the opening of My Friend's House could be delayed more than a year. This facility is SO important to Collin County because there is very little foster care available. Many children have to be sent from their homes to receive emergency care. Patsy McGeehon, Director of My Friend’s House, says that asking the children to wait another year and continue to be sent far from home as they deal with the aftermath of abuse and neglect only compounds the hurt they have already experienced. On a personal note, this initiative is very near and dear to Sleep Experts because one of our employees was the product of City House, the sister agency. She knows how important it is for a child to have a place to call home. Please visit My Friend's House to learn more about this wonderful facility, and I hope you will consider making a donation.
